How BCA works
At BCA we want to reach the widest possible audience and involve everyone in our projects and activities. Whether you are a regular gallery goer or new to the arts, an aspiring artist or an experienced professional, we have something to offer you. Our Project team delivers an extensive outreach/ community programme that engages groups of all ages, through photography, filmmaking and animation. This work aims particularly to reach people who may experience barriers to other creative opportunities and training and is funded by a range of organisations and agencies (see How BCA is Funded). If you are a member of a group who you think could benefit – give us a call and ask for the Project team.
Through a network of local partners, BCA works with adults and children including families who are on low incomes, unemployed and homeless people, disabled people, people who have mental heath issues and those who are recovering from addiction to drugs or alcohol. BCA also offers a wide range of educational and creative activities that are open to everybody, promoted through BCA Gallery.
BCA Gallery promotes the best in contemporary visual arts through a programme of changing exhibitions by professional artists using photography, film, and animation. We welcome group visits from schools, collages and other organisations but we encourage you to book. Gallery admission is free.
The Gallery also provides support and development to young or early career visual artists who use photography, film and computer based technology in their work, helping them to engage audiences more effectively.
If you are an artist and you think your work might compliment our programme, you can send us a written proposal for an exhibition at any time.
