Bedford Creative Arts Mini Commissions
The Mini Commissions are open to professional and amateur artists, curators and producers living in the Bedfordshire area who have a good idea that aligns with our artistic policy. Each season we award £500 to the applicant with the best idea and work with them to make it happen.
The Winter Mini Commission was awarded to Kristian Purcell, a Bedfordshire based artist, who is pushing the boundaries of his art practice by making a self portrait as a public act. Kristian will recreate his studio in an empty shop window in Bedford town centre. Turning the notion of public exhibition of work on its head Kristian will invite the audience to see him while he paints himself under the public gaze. Kristian will be undertaking his self portrait on the 18th & 19th February in a town centre location.
